Tyneside Halloween dog killer yet to be identified

The RSPCA is appealing for information following a disgusting attack at an 18th birthday party in Lemington on Halloween.

The body of Herbie, a Yorkshire terrier-cross was found in the back garden of a house on Waverley Crescent at around 8pm.

Herbie’s owners had kept the dog upstairs during the party but he had wandered downstairs and into the garden.

RSPCA inspector Jaqui Miller said: “I have never seen such a brutal attack on a dog in my whole 10 year career. Herbie’s muzzle was shattered in numerous places. It would seem that the right side of his lower jaw has been twisted over to the other side, pinning his tongue and causing him to choke to death.”

“The owner is understandably distraught and desperate for answers to what happened to her beloved pet. I have spoken to a number of people who were at the party but I still need more specific information.”

“I want to appeal to everyone who was there to get in touch with me. Please call 0300 123 8018 and ask to leave a message for me and I’ll call you back.”
