Coming this month we’ve a real treat for you. We’re bringing the the finest acts from the fringe to your doorstep, it’s the return of the Newcastle Alternative!

Every August, the biggest and best names in comedy decamp to Edinburgh for the entire month, meaning that if you wanted to see any of the shows that the critics were raving about you had to head up North; that was until now. The Newcastle Alternative is month long series of shows at The Stand, bringing you the very best that the Fringe has to offer, without the 250 mile round trip to the Scottish capital.

Alongside our stand regulars such as Red Raw, Sod The Tories, Good Grief, Idiots Rule, The Weekend Shows, Steffen Peddies Chat Show, The Kids Comedy we’ve billed comedy royalty, boundary pushing jokers and international. Full listings and highlights are below from the

Stand-up superstars, sit alongside fresh faced newcomers, and local heroes share the bill with top transatlantic talent in what is the finest month long programme of comedy to have graced a single venue. If you’re sick of seeing the same old stuff on TV, or want the finest in funny without forking out for the Fringe, then The Newcastle Alternative is the perfect solution.
