The unveiling of the Fenwick Christmas window last week attracted hundreds of locals and tourists, eager to see the new display and enjoy what many consider as being the first true indicator in Newcastle that the festive season is just around the corner.
However, it is not the only event to look forward to on the run up to Christmas each year – the Newcastle Continental Christmas Market is also well received every time it returns.
The market is a foodie’s dream, with a vast array of sweet and savoury delights from all over Europe. Currywurst from Germany, paella from Spain, waffles from Holland and crepes from France, to name just a few of the handmade items that feature each year.
But food is not the only thing on the menu at this market. Many stalls have special one-off gifts – giving you some more options to think about for your Christmas shopping, especially if you are looking for a more unique present that wont be found in the big department stores.
For the kids (as if the crepes and waffles weren’t enough), there will be the opportunity to visit Santa in his Grotto – with all donations going to the St Oswald’s Hospice charity.
The Christmas Market opens on Saturday 15th November at 9am and will be open everyday until Satrdau 29th November when it will close at 8pm.
As usual the market is located next to Grey’s Monument at the top of Grey Street.
