Julien Dupont vs The Gateshead Millennium Bridge

Watch in amazement as a freestyle trial biker crossed the Gateshead Millennium Bridge in front of a Quayside crowd. Frenchman, Julien Dupont, conquered the famous bridge whilst it was tilted at a 40 degree angle, back in August of 2011. The world-renowned freestyle trial rider and Red Bull athlete got into a bit of trouble shortly after mounting the bridge when he briefly lost traction during the ascent. However, he was able recover and made it safely to the Newcastle side of the bridge.

Julien said after the challenge, “I am constantly looking for interesting and unique structures to conquer as this is the challenge for all freestyle motorbike trials riders; I want to keep pushing the boundaries of this sport and this project showed that”
